76 female scientists set off for Antarctica for 20 days, to sort out the climate change problem. Fabian Dattner, a (female) Australian blithering idiot: “Greater female leadership (in science) is needed to fight climate change, which disproportionately affects women. Mother Nature needs her daughters.”

Our thanks to Mike P for this. Fabian Dattner, the blithering idiot, is here.

About Mike Buchanan

I'm a men's human rights advocate, writer, and publisher. My primary focus is leading the political party I launched in 2013, Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them). I still work actively on two campaigns I launched in early 2012, Campaign for Merit in Business and the Anti-Feminism League. In 2014 I launched The Alternative Sexism Project, aiming to raise public understanding that the sexism faced by men and boys has far more grievous consequences than the sexism faced by women and girls.

Hope her sociology degree has prepared her for that Captain Oates moment “I am just going outside and may be some time”. Or is she planning to emulate Dr Doolittle with her Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistics Programming by talking to the penguins? Failing that she can put to good use her ‘Care-ring crisis counselling’ if things go t*ts up.
With all those specialisms do I smell a public sector sponsored and enriched heap of B/S?

  2. cheannaich says:

I have just plodded through the internet on the qualifications and accreditations and it seems to be guff.
The sociology degree is a fairly simple qualification to get. The certificate in training and assessment appears to be a very basic qualification. The accreditations seem to come in for some flak as to their effectiveness at judging anything coupled to a lack of repeatability in studies. To the ordinary bod, it could probably best be summarised as ju-ju.

    • You did better than I. After failing to find out anything about this expedition from the UNESCO website, I looked at UNWomen, who have a huge news feed on anything to do with women, but being a genuine femiinist site, they rarely talk about anything positive happening to/for women and they don’t mention this expedition.

It started looking like it really could be a one-way trip..!

Eventually I stumbled upon a dedicated website:
      https://homewardboundprojects.com.au/

I looked for feminist links for the few Australian scientists involved and found none. The expedition is obviously and openly sexist and gynocentric and led by a feminist but those involved need not be feminists.

I looked for support to the statement that “Many of sub-Saharan Africa’s smallholder farmers – one of the groups hardest hit by more frequent and worsening drought linked to climate change – are women” and found that ‘many’ could be right but clearly MOST are men.

I have written before on the 2007 London School of Economics report that “proves climate change [will] kill more women and girls than men”. I can’t find my report now but recall that the study did not show that at all, though it was implied in the conclusion.

The joke about needing a beard was unlikely to be about women not being leaders in expeditions. As any man who has shaved a beard off knows, a beard helps keep his face warm and in an enclosed, sub-zero environment where social fashion is unimportant, most men will let their beard grow.

Anyway, only one woman can lead, so are the other 75 on this jaunt being discriminated against by the female leader?

I see the article ends with a typical feminist, divisive, tone. Why is it that some women think that only they have the “challenge of striking a work-life balance?” Men have been struggling with that issue for many generations so perhaps women would do well to ask them about it.

I think the concept of feminists going to Antarctica has a lot of merit.

Its the bit where they plan to return that causes me some concern. Perhaps they could open a feminist commune there? Feminists at the South Pole: an idea whose time has come!

  4. epistemol says:

A climate that can distinguish between men and women?
Ingenious, what will they invent next!
But then what are the expeditioneers really going to do when they get there – sit round in groups and ‘feel’ the climates pain?

The best part of this apparently barking mad story is that it combines perhaps the two biggest ongoing world scams at once.
Feminism – an infamous power seeking political construct, and ‘climate change’ which exists only in as much as the climate is always ‘changing’ always has, and aways will.

You notice by the way, that the name has been surreptitiously changed from ‘Global Warming’, indicating devious intent?

As king Canute supposedly demonstrated (deliberately), nothing can be done about the forces of (Mother!) nature anyway.

One is inevitably put in mind of Chicken Little so memorably squalking
” The sky is falling in, the sky is falling in…!!”

The conclusion must be that while the expedition participants may or may not be stupid themselves, it’s organisers clearly intend a political purpose, damagingly risible though their methods may be.

Ha ha ha ah.. aah.. aarhh…aargh!!.. Ow!! Some of this feminist stuff is too painful to read.

Ladies, Lady Scientists.. (can I call you ladies?) of a certain aggrieved position – It is time for you to save the world from men!

Yes Indeed! The recent Disney trend is true!.. Women can be Super Heroes too!
    Go Moana, Go!

The Earth is in Jeopardy. It’s time to call the gender neutral.. er .. feminist division of INTERNATIONAL RESCUE. Thunderbirds Are Go! (Sorry, I didn’t mean ‘birds’ in the traditional male sexist anti-female context of ‘she’s a very attractive bird!’…) I meant Thunder ‘Persons’ are Go!
THUNDER GENDER-NEUTRAL PERSONS of a FEMINIST PERSUASION are Go! YAY!

Men are responsible for this latest balls-up and thank goodness that there are some really clever lady scientists out there who’ve recognised that fact. Where their own mothers sat passively by under the imprisoning masculine thumb, a rampantly irresponsible disposable consumer-culture has developed, threatening the climatic balance of our planet. Men have been neglecting our precious Mother Earth in this way for too long now and it’s time that her feminist daughters step up and sort it out once and for all. F.A.B

One thought here. If the earth is Mother and women are her (legitimate?) daughters, does that mean we are all fatherless?
Or would it follow that the moon, in that case, is the father?…
Mother Earth : Beautiful, life sustaining, fragile but strong, and unbelievably wonderful!!…
The moon?.. small, dull, insignificant, lifeless, rarely if ever visited, and no one really knows what it’s doing hanging around just over there anyway.

Sounds like a reasonable feminist concept to me.

Thanks for the heads up on the article to those involved in bringing these issues to our collective attention. Working together without blame is the objective I think.🙂

I wonder if the ‘female scientists’ will prefer an all female or male rescue team to come and get them when they get bogged down. I strongly suspect they would bet on safety and not mind the male team.

    • sundanceweb says:

Sanity206…yes indeed!… when harsh reaity kicks in sanity inevitably follows doesnt it?..

999? – ..”Hi I need assistance please… if a female firecrew coild be despatched asap that would be great.. no, time not an issue…it’s the gender of the team that is the priority here! … how long?!?!” HOW long?!!”

The only way to deal with ihese kinds of issues is with bemused himour I think.🙂
